This Sunday, we take the "show" on the road to worship off site and to celebrate Pentecost with a great brunch, fun games, and good fellowship!
Reminder that we welcome Jeff and Anne Barnhart (Ivory and Gold) in worship tomorrow at 10:30am playing along with our own One Track Train. See you then!
Last Sunday, Memorial Day, we considered Isaiah 2:1-5 and Joel 3:9-12 – “swords into plowshares, spears into pruning hooks” vs. “plowshares into swords, pruning hooks into spears.” At the End of Time, God’s people will go to the Mountain of God where there will be no more war. Implements of war become implements of farming (peace). To the contrary, the Nations of the world that oppose God, that take their instruments of peace (farming) and make them instruments of war against God, will face the Judgment of the Lord. Right now, before the End, God’s people are to “go to the Mountain” for wisdom, discernment, and Spiritual guidance in order to proclaim the Good News of Christ. Our call is to help make this world look more like the Realm of God to come and to countervail the current wars against God (both actual and analogous). Maundy Thursday Last Supper service this Thursday starting with a light meal at 6:00pm and worship at 7:00. Holy Week must not be just another week.

Re. our current worship series on the Book of Lamentations and the destruction of the First Temple by Babylon in 586 BC... - A 2,600 year-old document seal from the Kingdom of Judah bearing the inscription “(belonging) to Nathan-Melech, Servant of the King” (the name mentioned in 2 Kings 23:11) was recently discovered in the City of David. - The digs were carried out in the ruins of an ancient building that was burned and destroyed by the Babylonians in 586 BC during razing of the First Temple. The clay seal impression discovered dates to a period just before the destruction.

OK... so when Jeff and Anne Barnhart joined us in worship for some special music during Joplin Fest weekend, we remembered the Bible's greatest musician and composer, King David. His love of God and of music motivated him to sing and dance. We were inspired and so we danced "undignified" (2 Samuel 6). At one point, Jeff said, "Hey everybody, get up and burn some calories; dance for God." Great advice! (Who says Presbyterians are the frozen chosen?!)
This Thanksgiving...Get Full -- As you gather around the table today, may the words of Colossians 3:15 be a part of your pre-meal prayer: "Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful." After all, "thankful" means to be FULL of THANKS.
